Inhalation burns

Inhalation burns occur when a person breathes in hot gases or fumes, and can cause damage to the airways and lungs.

Signs of an inhalation burn may include difficulty breathing, coughing, a change in voice, and burns around the mouth or nose. Inhalation burns are a medical emergency and the person should be taken to the hospital immediately.
