Communicating with casualties

  • Be careful of what you say which could distress them further
  • Maintain eye contact when talking to them, and be aware of your body language
  • Take your time when talking to them
  • Allow your casualty to explain how they are feeling if they are able to
  • Avoid medical terms that they may not understand
