Ultraviolet light
Ultraviolet (UV) light can lead to an eye injury called corneal flash burn.
Exposure to the sun, glare from a welder’s torch and sun lamps can cause of this type of injury. It could also affect both eyes.

Signs and symptoms
- Pain
- Redness and watering
- A gritty feeling
- Sensitive to light

Treatment
- Cover the eye with a sterile eye dressing
- Take them to the hospital if you are able to transport them. Failing that, call for an ambulance immediately
