Sunburn

Sunburn can be caused by overexposure to the sun affecting those working outdoors such as gardeners and construction workers and can also be caused by tanning booths.

The casualty’s skin will appear red and be sore to the touch and may blister over time.

Treatment for sunburn

• Move the casualty indoors or into a shaded area
• The burn can be cooled under cool or cold running water for at least 20 minutes
• Encourage the casualty to drink as they may be suffering from dehydration
• Seek medical assistance if the burn worsens or blisters
