Treatment of Anaphylaxis
Treatment for a severe reaction
- Use an adrenaline auto-injector if the person has one

- Call 999 for an ambulance immediately (even if they start to feel better) – mention that you think the person has anaphylaxis
- Lie the person down flat – unless they are unresponsive, pregnant or having breathing difficulties
- Give another injection after 5 minutes if the symptoms do not improve and a second auto-injector is available. This should be given in the opposite thigh
- If they become unresponsive, place them in the recovery position and be prepared to resuscitate them if they stop breathing normally
